I have been debating on posting these before and after pictures. On one hand I am so proud of myself and on the other hand I am disappointed in myself that I got to that place. And I know I am never “done” with this journey, I am choosing every day to be healthy! The before pics were taken in June and July and the after pics were taken in the last few days.
All my years, I have dieted and worked out then stopped and gone back to it, have never been consistent and always had a conversation in my head that I can just eat some junk food today and then it becomes the next day and the next. A few years ago, I went to the Dr for my yearly visit and bloodwork, my Dr told me I was pre-diabetic. I started researching and looking up “healthy” recipes again and lost some weight. Went back to the Dr a few months later and my numbers looked good. Got to Holiday time and starting eating “whatever” and put some of the weight back on. I had to have a hysterectomy after the Holidays in 2018 and during recovery I put on a few more pounds so I decided to go to a medical weight loss center to give my self a push to lose some weight and diet again. I succeeded with the help of shots, pills and a very restrictive diet and lost the weight again. Then over the course of the year I fluctuated 10-15 pounds either way. After the 2019 holidays I was on the top end of the additional 15 pounds. Then we opened the doors to our new business on March 7th and soon after the Covid shutdown happened. During the next 3 months, I added another 20 pounds to my weight, eating terrible food daily. I felt awful and weighed more then I ever have in my life (including pregnancy). In June of this year, I saw a post my friend had made again about someone she had worked with to lose weight (I had seen her posts a few times over the previous couple of years) and feel better with some medical issues she had been dealing with. I decided to make the call, mostly because I did not feel well inside, I knew it was more then just weight and pre-diabetes this time.
I started working with Becka in June, I say working with because the work is me learning about myself and learning about how different food affect me. I knew it wasn’t just about losing weight but to be healthy in mind, body and spirit. Over the last 6 months I have lost over 35 pounds and feel better than I ever have in my life. I have also learned about what food works for me and why and have changed the conversation in my head. I used to think I “couldn’t” eat this or that because I will gain weight but now my mindset is choosing to enjoy the foods that are going to make me feel healthy and having occasional treats, knowing how they will make me fell as well. I know this is a journey and I get to choose to be healthy every day. Becka is an amazing coach and worked with me where I was, she made herself available if I needed to talk or ask a million questions while I was at the grocery store. I know I did this work, and I am so proud of myself with how far I have come. I know I probably could’ve lost the weight again by myself, but I wouldn’t have the confidence and knowledge that I do now. I am grateful for Becka for choosing this work and for helping me choose wellness.
